Our Programs
The Careers Through Faith ministry offers professionally-led programs designed to start participants on their journey to integrate their career, faith and life and learn practical “street smart” skills to compete in today’s challenging employment marketplace. These programs are most often sponsored by and take place in various churches. These programs strive to move participants from “What’s next?” to “What’s BEST?” The 90 Minute Evening Presentation by Nick Synko is open to church members and the surrounding community. This presentation helps participants begin the process of self-discovery and to acknowledge their faith as an important part of career decisions. This new awareness challenges participants to take a fresh look at their career choices from a far more mature standpoint which leads to an awareness that viable alternative careers are indeed possible. As a result of this singular workshop we find inspiration often turns into action and a complete reassessment of career and life decisions from a faith-based perspective.Participants in this introductory workshop are encouraged to continue to further explore their career possibilities by attending a One-Day or a Six-Week Workshop.
The One-Day Workshop while covering the same topics as the 90 Minute Evening Presentation, participants have the opportunity for a more in-depth discussion of each topic and focused time to work within small groups to share their thoughts and learn from others. The design of this workshop allows participants to move from awareness to application of these concepts to their career, faith and life. The Six-Week/Six-Session Workshop or Retreat Weekend are in-depth programs that allow participants more time for reflection and discussion in small groups. We are also able to spend substantial time on networking strategies, resume and cover letter development and personal marketing strategies. An important benefit of this program is the team-based, support group activities both within and outside of the classroom, including prayer. Participants develop an awareness that no one should go through a career transition without the support, insight and feedback of others who understand. Individual Coaching is available for those whose career situation requires more one-to-one attention, candid insight, feedback, direction and accountability from a professional career coach. We find there are questions and decisions that are inappropriate for a classroom setting and best served in a private manner.

Nick's session was very enlightening. He provided clear exercises on beginning your search for your calling, and provided uplifting encouragement and hope. - Mark Gawronski _________ Nick suggested that ideally our careers will reflect our spiritual values and that we should first reflect on those values in order to find the way to an ideal career. Not only did I find this a worthwhile train of thought to pursue, I justplain enjoyed Nick because he inspired confidence in his listeners. I believe that he not only has developed a great set of tools for his clients but that his own spirit inspires his clients to believe they can identify and achieve their career goals. - Cathy Sheets _________
I just wanted to thank you for the Ann Arbor News article on Careers Through Faith. I called Cathy Synko that day and learned there was a new class starting that Saturday. I joined the class and can't tell you how helpful and encouraging it has been... The best part about this program is that it integrates a faith aspect. This has been the missing element in other career programs. If it hadn't been for your article, I would have missed out on a wonderful life-changing opportunity. Thanks again.-- Diane M.
